Totally Amsterdam started with a simple frustration: most Amsterdam travel content is either years out of date, recycled from the same handful of "top 10" lists, or written by someone who visited once. None of that is much use when you're actually standing on a canal bridge trying to decide what to do next.
What we're building
A guide to Amsterdam that grows the way the city deserves — neighborhood by neighborhood, canal by canal — with each page written from an actual visit rather than assembled from other people's articles. We're starting small on purpose: a handful of thorough guides now, publishing two to three new ones every week, rather than a thousand thin pages on day one.
How guides get updated
Every guide on this site is revisited on a rolling basis — ticket systems change, restaurants close, opening hours shift. Rather than leaving pages to quietly go stale, we treat "last checked" as seriously as "first published."
Where we're headed
The plan is straightforward: keep publishing thorough English guides every week, and bring the growing catalog into other languages as it matures, starting with the most-read pages. If you land on a page that's still only in English, a translated version is very likely on its way.
